Wilderness tour operators in the Yukon must have a Wilderness Tourism License and are encouraged to follow the
Code of Conduct. Formed by WTAY members,
with help from the Yukon's Department of Tourism & Culture, the license and code are designed to protect
the guides, their customers and the Yukon's wilderness.
One of the requirements of licensing is liability insurance
and all reputable guides will practice risk management.
WTAY has conducted market research and studies of issues affecting the wilderness tourism sector - being actively informed will help your business
to succeed. The Department
of Tourism and the Tourism
Industry Resource Centre are very supportive of our industry and are valuable sources of information
and research. You can also learn how to create value-added enhancements to your wilderness tourism activities by going to learning travel resources.
